We spoke with Jo Andrews, School Business Manager at Summercroft Primary School, who manages many areas in the school, including finance, compliance, IT, HR & even catering. What was your initial reason for looking into a Compliance Management software provider, and what made you choose iAM Compliant?
At my previous school, I used a competitor's system to help me manage compliance, policies, and staff training and on starting my current school was keen to find a system that would work for us. I looked at several systems and opted for iAM Compliant, due to the amount of areas that the system covered, the flexibility of functions and that it was still being developed and would grow with the school's needs. The price was competitive, I felt it was very user-friendly and easy for all to use.
How does iAM Compliant support you in overcoming your estates management and compliance challenges?
Having all our compliance in one place, with the weekly email that we receive giving details of what needs to be completed and forthcoming events, ensures we stay compliant and nothing gets missed. Being able to produce reports for the Governors to view showing the school's state of compliance.
How have you found the access to support from iAM Compliant? (e.g Helpdesk tickets)
On the occasions where we have needed to contact support, they have also been very helpful and responded quickly.
In what ways has iAM Compliant assisted your school in maintaining compliance?
The helpdesk function is fab! Staff report any issues there and these go straight through to the site team. It helps with tracking, for instance, if it is always the same toilet blocked, you can work out if there is a bigger problem going on.
The weekly email showing tasks to be completed is great. If the site manager is off, it's easy to know what needs to happen and when.
Sending policies to staff to read and being able to get reports that show that all staff have reviewed the policies is time-saving and super efficient.
What impact has iAM Compliant’s training library had at Summercroft Primary School? Are there any particular collections that you’ve found beneficial?
This is the first year we have used the training as we previously used another online training provider for staff CPD. As part of our insurance requirement, we need all staff to complete the national cyber training, which used to be sent out by email and I'd wait for the certificates to be emailed to me. But using iAM Compliant, I can easily see who has and hasn’t completed this and send reminders.
What are the biggest pain points that you believe iAM Compliant solves for schools?
Tracking of compliance and policies to ensure we stay up-to-date. Staff using the help desk to report issues saves time.
How have staff at Summercroft Primary School received and adopted iAM Compliant?
The staff were dubious at first and said they would not have time. Once they started they have seen the benefits of using the system and get a much quicker response from the site team.
In 2025, what are you most looking forward to using the tool for?
I want to start to build a catalog of videos on how to do things around the school, so if the site manager was to leave the information is already there for the next person.
We have not used the risk assessment section to its best, and looking to load our risk assessments on there so they're all in one place.
How would you describe iAM Compliant in a few sentences?
The system is straightforward and very user-friendly, even staff with limited IT skills are using this. It has everything in one place and we would be lost without it.
